The Last Queen of Punjab with Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni

The Last Queen marks the first foray into non-fiction by bestselling author Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. In this book, Chitra tells the story of Rani Jindan of Punjab, the wife of the great builder of the Sikh Empire, Maharaja Ranjit Singh.

Rani Jindan’s story was one of rags to riches, and sadly back to living from hand to mouth, as she ran for her life and witnessed the collapse of the Empire her husband had built. What’s more tragic is what happened to her son Duleep Singh.
